Just curious if anyone has tried it and got it to work.
Leap 16 is still pre-Beta now … I am running it in a VBox VM … at this stage, I would not replace my stable 15.6 with a pre-Beta.
There is a separate 16 section out here
Thanks - I didn’t see that tag on the main forums page. I wasn’t considering a replacement, just wanted to see if anyone actually made the attempt.
Release schedule has it in the Fall of 2025 - so I wouldn’t expect an in-place upgrade to necessarily work at this stage. I could be wrong, of course - but I’m sure that testers would be welcome to report bugs in bugzilla.opensuse.org after trying it (I’d be inclined to do so in a VM rather than on bare metal unless one has a spare machine lying around).
This is the plan. Since I only saw KDE the first time I installed v16, that will be the one I try first.
Yes, I have done that upgrade.
I already had Leap 16 running in a VM. So Iooked at that to find the repos being used. Then, on a 15.6 system, I replaced the repos with those from Leap 16, and did:
zypper dup --allow-vendor-change
That went smoothly.
I’m thinking of doing that on another system, mostly to avoid the agama installer which I don’t like.
I agree - do not like the agama installer - it’s not very informative.
KDE upgrade was easy, upgrading Xfce now. No Cinnamon packages yet…
