Upgrade from SUSE 10.3 to the latest version

I am planning to take a plunge into LINUX world. The problem is that my laptop has RTL8187b Wireless Lan.
On goingthrough the forum, I was informed that the Kernel with support to this wireless LAN is underway and will be out in 4-7 weeks time.

If I install 10.3 now, will I be able to upgrade to the new version without uninstalling the current one.
Will there be any problems with the updation.

Will it be easy to upgrade from 10.3 or 11 to the new version.

Generally speaking it is possible upgrade.
Personally I did like it I prefer a clean install , saving my
data before installing
Dobby9

dobby9 is right. The general feeling here is that a fresh install is much much better. Having a seperate /home with all the user data (which will not be touched by an install) is very usefull here (though a backup above that might give you less trembling of your hands).

A backup of /etc might be helpfull with config files when you try to bring your new system to the same status as the old one.

Thanks, so I will wait for the later version

Looking at ndiswrapper, you will probably find it will work in the current Suse 11.

Are you sure, the wireless LAn will work.

Also I am trying to download SUSE 11 32 bit. when I right click on download and try to save it shows 0nly 270 MB file size where as the actual is in GB.

Please suggest

This is the link for the ftp/http download - click and save it, not right click.

I cannot be SURE the wireless will work, it can be fiddly. That’s why I always hardwire via router.
