upgrade from 12.1 to 12.2 broke kde a bit

hi. upgrading from 12.1 64bit to 12.2 64 bit (using the install dvd) broke some things.

there is an issue that i was not able to solve.

after i log in to X, the desktop view strangely resets to some undefinied state.

originally, i use folder view. right click - folder view settings - layout: folder view

the settings actually says folder view, but the desktop actually does not show any icons, just a very long sidebar.
i need to change to desktop view, apply, then back to folder view, apply again, and then my icons appear.

if i just log out from the session, and log in again, it remembers well, and i see my icons.

if i restart my computer, kde forgots this settings again, and i need to reconfigure this.

anyone experienced this bug?

No? I’m surprised.

Did you follow the advices on what to do after performing the upgrade re
config files, and re outdated files?

i ensured a secure environment before i performed the update, only rcrpmconfigcheck says that i should check /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc.rpmnew this. i checked it. its a very nice file  i dont see anything strange in it

We should try and create a new user profile and log in into that and rule out profile corruption !
When i use DVD to upgrade i will usually retain home folder alone and format rest of the system folders

good idea. i will remove (+backup) kde related profile files, and let the system to recreate them. maybe will help.
