Upgraded my xen virtual server from 12.2 to 12.3 today ran all updates to most current level, Oh I would never have done it except the primary drive died, so had to reinstall, all virtual machine were imported to recreate after reinstall. All fully virtualized machines came up fine. Couple of XP boxes,(ubuntu) zimbra open source server, openSuse 12.2 LTSP server… all started fine.
All of the paravirtual machines stopped running, they are all configured to use a disk partition or Entire Disk as the xen drive for the virtual machine.
Example primary Backup server was assigned physical disk /dev/sda of 4TB as the disk drive device, the machine will not boot can nor find the correct drive, assumed since assignment had changed the grub loader was in trouble. Not so. I decided to just reinstall the software… Ok so here starts the trouble. The install DVD iso for 12.3 can not see the drive, nor can the install DVD iso for 12.2 when booted in the virtual machine.
Now the strangeness, the Live CD for 12.2 can see the disk drive and install to the virtual machine just fine The drive shows up as a Qemu-harddisk all partitions are available. Not really software I want though!
Also I don’t seem to be able to create a paravirtual machine at all any more…from the ISO.
If anyone can point me where to look that would be great!
Thanks
Brian
