UPEK Fingerprint reader

Hey people,

I’ve got the following problem. My Laptop is an Acer TravelMate 5530G and it have a fingerprint reader from UPEK. And this is the problem. It doesn’t work, because OpenSuse 12.1 with Gnome 3.2 saying to me that there isn’t anyone. The system can’t identify the UPEK fingerprint reader. What can i do? I need your help please.

I also have a new laptop (Sager 5160) with an un-recognized UPEK fingerprint scanner (USB ID 147e:1001). I hope there is some solution (maybe using a development version of libfprint or something?). Hope someone with knowledge chimes in

i guess one of you should log a bug to bugzilla then return here and
list the bug number/URL so the other (and all of those who follow in via
google) can easily find the bug and add their details to it…

the more who have the problem and report it, the sooner it gets a
developers attention…

and, check back here from time to time to see if someone with new info
or a way to fix the problem chimes in…(but, i doubt that will happen
until the scanner is seen by the system, at least.)
