Updating Dbus

Hi,

I want to update my dbus. I’m running SLED 10 SP1.

I wanna update dbus because I need libdbus-1.so.3 to install librsvg. I want librsvg because I want beryl. And no I will not update to SP2 or install compiz-fusion.

Hi
Even SP2 is only at libdbus-1.so.2 have you tried building a 10.2 src
rpm?

Might be worth trying to build all the src rpms from here which
includes your dbus, beryl etc…

You might also try posting over in the SLED forum at
http://forums.novell.com as this is the openSUSE forum

What do you mean? I have no idea what to do. I got beryl from somewhere else. I just want compiz-fusion now.

Hi
So are you running SLED 10 SP1 or openSUSE 10.2 they are two totally
different distributions. I saw your other post re compiz-fusion, you
could try the 10.3 version if your running openSUSE 10.2 but it may
break other stuff.

Re building from the source rpm’s you download the rpm’s from the src
directory, the use the rpmbuild command to build up rpms for your
version for example;

rpmbuild --rebuild <name_of_rpm>

Note you will also need to install devel rpms as well if/when it stops
on errors while building. I can be a long drawn out process if you have
to do a lot of them…

Why not upgrade to 11 or 10.3 at least if you are running openSUSE 10.2?

I do not have much idea about this, but recently I found that the dbus version on openSUSE 10.3 to be outdated. That forbade me from successfully compiling a few packages from Enlightenment svn.
