Updates problem

Hi there to everyone …

I’m new to OpenSUSE. I come from the ubuntu world, and I’d like to try out some SUSE :).

But here is my problem:

I installed SUSE on a VmWare Fusion on Mac OS X. The install went well but when i want to update the system it gives me an error about a file .xml something.

I’m not at home so I can’t give you the exact error message. But when i do a

sudo zypper update

Its not working.

Am I doing it wrong ?

I had the same problem on Fedora with the package manager. How can i fix this kind of problems ?

Thanks a lot for your help and I’m rely sorry if I wans’t clear. I can give you the error message once I’ll be home from work.

become su
and then do:

zypper up

Become su in Terminal - HowTo - openSUSE Forums

Thanks a lot  , and I rely love your Avatar :0

Still not working I have this message :

linux-7w2b:/home/boogy # zypper up
Recupération des méta-données du dépôt ‘openSUSE-11.2-Non-Oss’ ]Erreur de téléchargement (curl) pour ‘http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/repodata/repomd.xml’:
Code erreur: Connection failed
Message erreur: Couldn’t resolve host ‘download.opensuse.org

Abandonner, réessayer, ignorer*? [a/r/i/?] (a)

I rely dont get it …

I take it you can browse to this:
Index of /distribution/11.2/repo/oss

Yes internet works fine … i can get there but nothing wants to update.

I don’t have time to look in to it now, but I think it is related to issues one or two others have had. You may have to search thru the forum Network section. You may have to change from the default DHCP network and configure manually according to the settings of your ISP.
