updates problem 11.2 64-bit

I am having problems getting updates due to the following error.

PackageKit Error repo-not-available: Download (curl) error for ‘http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/repodata/repomd.xml’: Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: Failure when receiving data from the peer

Any help is appreciate it.

Thanks

Abdellah

This may be just the server that’s responding too slow. Try again later.

You may just have to wait an hour or so
or try different mirrors suited to your location in the world
openSUSE Download Mirrors - Overview

Try to check for updates again. It happens some time due to net problem.

I don’t have any problem waiting if the issue is on the network, I am building a server at work, I just have to make sure that the updates are working.

I have tried several mirrors here in the US.I am in the midwest; I tried university of Texas, Berkley and Novell mirrors with the same error message. I also switched my network cards with no luck

Thanks

Can you browse the channel with your web browser?
Eg: Index of /distribution/11.2/repo/oss

Yes I can. I can browse the repos derictories through the browser.

Thanks

So is this a new install and you have never actually had it working before? Or did it work and now it doesn’t?

Yes, it is a new install, I never had it working before.

any suggestions?

We noticed that the URL in the error message we are getting is not correct.

PackageKit Error repo-not-available: Download (curl) error for http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/repodata/repomd.xml: Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: Failure when receiving data from the peer

when I put that url in the browser I get object not found. according to the directory stucture the repmod.xml is found in directory: Index of /distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/suse/repodata/

those repositories entries are created automatically during installation. even I tried to add them manually I still get the same error.

any suggestions?

Hello

I am having exactly the same problem. I have tried many times over 24 hours so I don’t think it is the server. When I get the error and past the ftp://… URL, I can browse the directories.

So, I am guessing the curl needs it own proxy settings. Where do I set those up?
