Updater will not download/install updates

I’ve been having a problem for a couple months now where my openSUSE updater will inform me I have updates to install, but when I put in my password for it to proceed, it appears to crash, then it tells me I need to install updates again. It never works though. What can I do to install these updates and get this thing fixed?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi
Can you try from the command line to update, open a console/konsole
session and run the following commands;

sudo zypper ref
sudo zypper lu
sudo zypper up

The first command refreshes, the second lists the updates and the third
will install the updates.

Thanks! It appears the problem was that java wanted to update, but the new version wasn’t 64 bit or something like that. I just chose to skip that update (option 3 at the terminal), and everything else appears to be installing just fine.

Hi
Glad it’s working, have a read of the following thread which should
also help;
How to lock a package permanently?
