Updater wants to update non-installed package

Hi all,
I’m on OpenSuSE 11.1, and since I needed some features of Firefox 3.5.x I manually updated via 1-Click intall to 3.5.8.
Now the Updater-Applet signals a security repo update for FF 3.0.18 which is no longer installed since replaced by the 3.5.8, and I see no way to get rid of the red warning sign; this is very bad since now I get no longer informed about other new updates to really installed packages … :frowning:
Anyone an idea how I can fix this?

thanks!

Have you tried adding a lock?

zypper al MozillaFirefox

If this won’t help: ‘rl’ instead of ‘al’ will remove the lock.

Please post result of

zypper lr -d

zypper lr -d

Actually, looking at that I’m amazed your system works at all.

Try setting Mozilla repo to priority 10

twenty enabled repos!

absolutely amazing…that may be a record number for a still working
system…

of course i still cling to the basic four mentioned in these postings:

absolutely amazing…that may be a record number for a still working

I could top that, I have 25 repositories and 4 deactivated - however, this very choice of dubious ‘home:’-, contradicting (Mozilla vs. Mozilla-legacy) and incompatible repositories (Packman vs. Videolan) is remarkable.

gknw, seriously: it’s no wonder your package manager has a hard time to make sense with such a list of repositories. Tidy them, set the packages to the preferred sources and then proceed - before that we can hardly help.

oh boy!

that is exactly what we need here…a competition to see who can run
with the most repos enabled for the longest possible time before
having to format/install…

and while doing so there could be a side competition to see who could
soak up the most forum helper time, and/or keep alive the longest
running thread of “weird problems”

i think both those competitions have been (unknowningly) going on here
for a long time…

well caf figured it out a long time ago, the proof of that is in his
seen anew several times a hour mantra:

copy paste results of

zypper lr -d

Not necessarily. I use 20 to 30 repositories since SuSE 10.1 and my systems run well - I do admit that I am pretty much into bleeding edge, so it’s KDE4.4 instead of 4.3, Firefox 3.6 instead of… you get the idea.

However, I am not that much of a beta- / alpha-tester and prefer my systems to be stable (you will hardly find threads by me here or on any other forum). Some repos are needed for setting up an Digital Audio Workstation (jengelh, 2x “Multimedia:”), also I really like comparing Desktop Environments and Windowmanagers for some reason (Cyberorg-Compiz, X11:Enlightenment, X11:LXDE, X11:Windowmanagers), plus the usual Packman, NVidia etc…

Now here’s the thing: I know the content of those repositories and I know how to set locks and priorities - this collection is not just slapped together for competitive reasons, but evolved over quite some time. I would never recommend my list to someone else, I still agree with the motto “less is more” when it comes to package management.
