The updater for my system indicates that there are updates. But when I activate it to perform the update, it would tell me, after a while, that it has completed the process.
Then moments later, the updater indicates that there are still updates to be added. The number of updates indicated remains the same. This leads me to believe that no action was actually performed by the updater.
I should note that I activated additional repositories included with the install (eg. build service repositories, etc). Could this be the cause of the problem?
Could someone tell me what logs I should be looking at to see what the problem is?
There are likely some package conflicts involved in the update process. Go into YaST and use the Online Update module instead, as it will give you details of any problems and offer a list of possible solutions.
I did the YaST Online Update module. After it finishes scanning, it came up with an empty list. I would like to note that the Update Applet shows 170 additional updates available.
The symptoms you describe seem to point at an old one that can be solved by unchecking the ‘remember password’ box when the root password is asked for.
