Hi
I am using Kupdater on Suse 11.1 (with the version of KDE that comes with 11.1 - 4.1.3?). The updater icon appears in the systray, but no auto checks are ever done (apart from at system startup) despite it being set to check every 6 hours. However if I right-click the icon and select “Check Now”, it works fine and pulls down the correct updates. Any thoughts as to why this works but the scheduled checks don’t?
Thanks
Fred

let it rip - Y
should be fine, you are fairly up to date
OK, and thanks, but I’m not sure where I stand with my original question. From what I’ve learned here, it looks like the updater applet was only pulling a subset of updates - I did get a number of security and other updates when I prompted the updater to check. Perhaps this was because of the pending update to YAST? Is it likely after this download that the applet will work as it should, doing the scheduled checks correctly?

I have disable the updater from starting. It’s a PITA as far as I’m concerned. Post the result of this again :
zypper lr -d
OK.

you didn’t edit the repos as I suggested.
Do as above and you should be fine

Sorry, I didn’t spot that instruction - which post was it in?

Should be fine. Unless there is some difference in the setting for the updater applet. Have a look, I don’t have it. Right click and check it’s settings.
Well, three days days on and, while I’m grateful that I now have the correct repositories, the update applet is still not initiating any update requests. As explained in my original post, the applet works fine if I right-click and select “check now”. But left alone, the applet never checks, although set to run hourly. Any suggestions on this specific issue would be welcome!

Right click configure
Check all the settings carefully to see it is set to check for updates automatically.

You need someone who uses the darn thing to reply really. I never use it and don’t intend to enable it to experiment ATM.
OK caf, thanks for your efforts on this anyway.
