I finally got the 13.1 Bottle running and doing the initial updates, I see a good download and then the desktop switches to a large clock calendar , no activity bar at the top except the speaker icon and off switch on the far right corner. It has been 30 minutes or longer and I see no hard drive activity, is the system supposed to do this or is it a problem. I haven’t turned it off or rebooted, I did last evening after doing the exact same and at that time I installed a nvidia driver but I think it was broken with a missing package for legacy drivers, so this morning it croaked and I could not restore what I had and just reinstalled. How long does this screen stay up or is it frozen?
You should tell at least what desktop environment you are using.
Sounds like GNOME.
I see nothing even remotely similar like you describe on my KDE system…

And which graphics card do you have?
