Updated to kernel 4.5.0-3.1 but Grub menu still has 4.4.3-1 only

Hello,

I just updated to kernel 4.5.0-3.1-x86_64 dated April 8. This is also shown in Yast > Software Management (Search). However upon reboot, Grub menu only shows kernel 4.4.3-1 (dated Feb. 26) as the latest available kernel.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Post:

zypper se -si kernel
cat /proc/cmdline

Manually change it in Yast -boot loader

First be sure you are running what you think you are

Just updated TW and it boots as default kernel 4.5.0-3. Default menu option does not name kernel version at all (it is called simply “openSUSE Tumbleweed”) so please explain where exactly do you expect to see it.

@gogalthorp:

Thanks. Your method works.

@arvidjaar:

I confirmed kernel 4.4.3-1 via the command uname-r. Also when I rebooted the screen showed “Welcome to openSUSE Tumbleweed kernel 4.4.3-1…”

May be something went wrong during kernel installation and bootloader configuration was not updated. Run “grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg” and reboot. If you still boot into “wrong” kernel, post /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and output of “ls -l /boot”.
