I just did the update to Milestone 6 from the factory repos and discovered that tomboy and several mono and gnome pkgs were installed. I’m using KDE 4.3.
Just thought I’d mention this as I know there’s a lot of controversy around mono being installed by default.
Edit: I just fired up the YaST package manager and there’s a long list of gnome pkgs that are queued up to be installed, including nautilis, metacity, libbeagle1, gnome-desktop and many more. I don’t know what’s going on here or why YaST is saying I need all these gnome pkgs.
Thanks for that link Beineri. I actually found that gconf2 pkg that was requiring all those other gnome pkgs and deleted it. But YaST is still determined to install those other pkgs I mentioned above.
Even marking some of those gnome pkgs as Taboo doesn’t work. If I restart the package manager, they’re back in the queue again.
I think that revolves mostly around the GNOME-centric nature of openSuSE; even though KDE is an option, there is still a tendency of the core developers to think in terms of GNOME (which is the historical default). (It’s not unique to openSuSE in the least; Solaris developers are just as guilty. It drives me just as barmy there, since one of my other operating systems is Korona, a Solaris distribution with KDE 4.3 as a default; however, I still have to do some system-management tasks in GNOME, as KDE still lacks the tools for routine tasks in that area.)

Gnome as far as I can remember has never been SuSE`s preference and I go
back at least 11-12 years with SuSE.
SuSE has been more KDE centric if anything even when QT was not open.
