Hi! I really need help!
I’m using a HP laptop (Pavilion 9880eo) with a Nvidia graphics card (GeForce 8600M GS). Used to have SUSE 11.0 and Vista dual-boot. Decided to update to 11.3, not so smart apparently… Had issues with the updater, repositories did not work, lots of clashes to resolve, the installer even crashed on me. Eventually got it running, but now I am stuck with a blank screen when booting to SUSE. I’m using EasyBCD to choose between Vista/SUSE, grub is installed on the Linux partition. That part seems to be working now. It is the X-server that seems to be playing tricks on me, and I don’t even know where to begin… The .xsession-errors file is really long, I’m posting it in a follow-up below.
I can access all Linux-files through the Vista boot and using Ext2Fsd, but I can’t work using SUSE-Linux any longer, since all I get is a blank screen and possibly a mouse pointer.
I’ll also post the “menu.lst” and /etc/sysconfig/bootloader below.
I would be most grateful if someone could help me debug what I need to do in order to get the machine up and running SUSE Linux again (posted by booting into Vista…)
With best regards, Marro
“bootloader” below, I put a # in front of:
#FAILSAFE_VGA=""
now I get a beige window and a pointer, nothing else…
