Update of 11.2 M2 to 11.2M6

After i updated to 11.6 M6, rebooting causes these messages to appear. Typing exit continues to boot normally. I am typing the messages that appear on the screen as i do not have a way of capturing these messages

doing fast boot

That should be 11.2 M6

Download the Factory NET install CD. Boot from it, pick Installation and proceed till New/Upgrade. There’s an extra option: Repair installed system. This will fix your GRUB install.

What I do is keep a cheap digital camera by my PC, and snap an image of such messages, and then post the image on one of the many image sharing sites.

It beats retyping.

nice idea ! didn’t think of this

Tried this. Didn’t work. The kernel version on the factory-net cd says Linux V3.4.4(Kernel 2.6.31-rc7-4-default).

On my portable, i already have Windows Vista installed besides 11.2M6. I do not have the rescue disc and there is no way for me to create one. In this situation if i performed a new installation of a major version will it cause any problem to my vista partition?

No, do what you should have done in the first place: install 11.1 to replace the Milestone release. It stated all over the place, that Milestones are for testing purposes, i.e. in case of trouble …
