why zypper update keeps on changing vendors almost everytime.?
It may depend on the priority numbers assigned to the repo’s.
I actually set all mine to 99 (Default) - But that might not work for everyone.
problem because of that is it keeps re installing some packages of about 120mb download.
most other day it happens.
i have not altered the yast priority settings in anyway.

No.
But you might need to.
What updates keep coming thru like that?

this is in my laptop.
this is what gives 100 odd mb downloads every other day.
in my desktop it remains within 30 mb downloads.
repos are same as the above.
Dude you have repo’s all over the place. I have marked RED the ones to disable - well I marked most of the Important ones. You have a plethora of OSS.
VLC you don’t need once you have installed libdvdcss
The KDE4 repo’s I marked are the 4.1.3 versions. You can’t mix the 4.1.3 and the Unstable 4.2 beta
The BLUE, well you need to sort these out, you have duplicates.
In fact all you really need is:
Index of /distribution/11.1/repo/oss
Index of /distribution/11.1/repo/non-oss
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Community/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/Extra-Apps/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_UNSTABLE_Desktop
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Qt/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /pub/packman/suse/11.1
Things like Compiz and Wine, fine. But keep it as simple as possible.
N.B.* If you don’t want the latest KDE4.2 beat, swap for the stable 4.1.3 - You must be one or the other. ** Also the kde4 repo’s are due for a move around, so watch out for that.
I have done some testing and the QT44 repo
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Qt44
Seems to work better with KDE 4.2 beta
/Geoff
thanks for the tip.
i will try to keep minimum number of repos.
this list became so big when download.opensuse.org was verybusy and was giving only few hundred bytes/s
now situation is better .
i will get back with result of the changes.
thanks again for kde-4.2 repo tip:)
