Hi,
I am using openSUSE 11.0 gnome desktop. Of late i notice that whenever i boot my system, the update ikon process starts as usual and downloads whatever update info it has to (i have disabled automatic update, so just the available updates are supposed to be listed). But immediately after consuming about 4-5 mb during this process, the ikon disappears. How to solve this problem?
At boot, right click the icon and quit. Do not start at boot.
Reboot.
Now start the updater from the menu. Right click and configure as you want it.
Personally I never use the crappy thing.
Well, i killed the update process via the gnome-system-monitor. The i go to yast > software > online update. Then the repos are refreshed and i get a patch selection window. But this window does not show lists of any upgrades/installed packages. But yast > software > software management does show updates. But i am not sure whether these updates have been refreshed as the update ikon itself dies. yast > software > online update configuration also does not seem to help.
