Update from 11.0 to 11.1rc1

Yes, it works, but…

After installation, the bootloader can’t be written. Grub want to use my second disk drive. I have to switch to the console (alt-ctrl-f1) and set the bootflag to sda1 (with fdisk).

Finaly all works fine. The only problem with i’m still struggling is the updater. It will be configured, but i can’t because SSL negotiation fails.

Funny I had no probs with Grub, all updated fine and dandy from 11.0->11.1 ( using d/loaded DVD ) and runs OK except knotify tends to crash/hog CPU sometimes, could be down to using an Aurilium usb sound card though :-0 which did not work at all in 11.0 due to the kernel I think.

A lot of us just bypass the GUI updater, and update via cmd-line:

zypper ref && zypper up

i’m just getting used to zypper, but what is the difference between updaing through a terminal or a GUI, is there a speed difference or anything?

In a sense, yes. There are fewer steps (just type 2 lines). And, it seems to me, to update faster. After you’ve done a bazillion updates, the GUI isn’t all that interesting anymore. So, zypper does the trick.

Try it for a bit and you’ll see.
