Update from 10.3 to 11.2 remotely?

Hi there,

I searched a lot but can’t find a solution. I’m running a root server without access to screen and keyboard and looking for a possibility to upgrade from OpenSuse 10.3 to 11.2.

Did anybody did this before or know how I can do it?

Thanks

I advice against such an upgrade, also the 10.3 zypp repos etc. were taken down already so upgrading it via the dup instructions found on the openSUSE website will no longer work.

“Starting with openSUSE 11.2, a live upgrade from the prior version of
openSUSE 11.1 is officially supported. This allows one to perform a
complete operating system update in place, without reloading
everything from scratch.”

another way to say that is, upgrade from anything other than 11.1 is
unsupported, more here: http://en.opensuse.org/Upgrade/Unsupported
where you will find a step-by-step UNsupported method which might
work, might not…

the safest, most direct way and supported way is to backup all data,
put in an install DVD which is known to be perfect, and do a fresh
(format) install…

not good news for you, i know…sorry…

Thanks a lot.

Upgrade from 10.3 to 11.0 worked fine.

Upgrade from 11.0 to 11.1 worked well as also the upgrade from 11.1 to 11.2.

Thanks again
