IIRC, in openSuSE 11.0 the Factory repo was updated once or twice a week, but since 11.1Beta2 I haven’t seen any update. The newest date is still from 01-Oct-08 (1 week so far).
So, may I ask, is everything working OK at the OBS? May I expect an update before Beta3?
My situation is the same a your’s.
What I did is to go to Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories
then navigate to the repo I’m interested in like KDE3, Factory:
Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_Factory and add that as a yast-source (in Yast, Smart or both).
I have added many, like:
Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:
to include:
community
(or this one, Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/Community/openSUSE_Factory)
desktop
extra
and
Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories/mozilla:/Factory/openSUSE_Factory
Index of /pub/opensuse/repositories/smart/openSUSE_Factory
etc., etc.
education comes to mind.
I also went through the lists and added many rpms just to look at & check.
Also, as soon as it has some new stuff in it, I will add Index of /pub/opensuse/update/11.1
but right now that’s old stuff IMHO.
Any way, that’s what I’ve been doing and I think I got ~900 updates KDE alone.
Just check the dates & use “update all” > “update if a newer package” & you will be fine. However, the latest & greatest Factory rpm will eventually break something somewhere, sometime – which is the purpose of Beta Testing, find them, report them & get them fixed & we are all better off.
Thanks for the info, but I already had some repos added.
Now if I only could get past dependency hell…
