Update error systemd-network

Hi,
with the updates from today I got the following message:
the installed systemd-network-254.27-150600.4.43.3.x86_64 requires 'systemd = 254.27-150600.4.43.3', but this requirement cannot be provided

What should I do?

I saw the same. I would just postpone either the whole upgrade, or only deselect that systemd one.

And check if a bug is already reported. When not, you can do it yourself.

Open bug report, use Maintenance for the component.

That’s interesting … I updated just now and do not see that update:

Continue?

I did the update and rebooted because of the kernel update, and all is fine, including networking (Wifi).

I keep a perpetual archive of updates and the only reference to “systemd-network” was back on Sep 03.

I can only suspect you have some software installed which is suggesting the update … or maybe you haven’t updated your system since early September.

How?

Exactly. You see the same problem. The lack of error is due to different behavior of zypper patch and zypper update.

If you are not using systemd-network just uninstall it. I had one laptop which has never had it installed and the error did not occur. On another laptop it was installed and the error occurred. Uninstalling it fixed the error – both laptops work perfectly without it. I think systemd-network is only necessary if you add a network device while the system is running, normally it is totally unnecessary.

Thank you all. Very strange, on my other laptop, I installed all the updates without problems.

I use it for my network interfaces (no Wicked, no NM).
