Update conflicts after 12.2 upgrade

Hello,

After rolling on 12.2 with the latest Tumbleweed repositories, I get a conflicts when trying to install updates.

I am not sure how I should resolve the conflict as I get the choice between not installing patches or downgrading other packages. I don’t want to break my setup, I don’t know much about these packages and I would rather ask than guessing.

Can anyone advice on how I should resolve these conflicts and how to figure out what’s the right resolution for this case?

please show us the terminal output and input from

copy/paste the in/output back to this thread using the instructions

Can you please specify which wiki procedure you are referring to? I did follow the Tumbleweed procedure to run my updates and everything now seems to be up to date as I get “Nothing to do” when running zypper dup again. Should I now completly ignore YaST Online Updates and Aper updates to only rely on zypper dup?

Patches 2012-588-1 and 2012-701-1 are patches for 12.2 (see output of ‘zypper patches’). They conflict with Tumbleweed because it is no longer 12.2. I had the same output and didn’t allow to install the patch. Afaik Tumbleweed offers no own patches.

Yes

As for TW that’s the only supported method.

this is exactly the correct answer!

if i were running Tumbleweed i would disable Apper and run ‘zypper dup’
only…how often is up to you…but if i were running Tumbleweed i
would be closely following the info on this Tumbleweed forum and/or the
mailing list because from time to time Greg (or someone) might say
something like: i’m gonna do so-and-so today so you might want to hold
off for a while…

and you do NOT wanna run dup then!

OK, thanks for clarifying those details. I will do so!
