Hi I have a fresh 13.2 install but I have been running into some trouble. After the install everything works fine, but one of the updates I recieve brakes my wifi. KDE Daemon will just keep asking for the wireless password. I searched through the forums but I haven’t really found anything that would match my problem. I’m going to attach a screenshot with the incoming updates. Any ideas what can I do to fix this? Many thanks in advance. http://imgur.com/ApF8qXE
Well, those 3 updates definitely do not cause your problem. These are updates to zypper and rpm…
So, you are using NetworkManager according to your screenshot, right?
My guess would be that you got bit by this problem:
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/505025-kdewallet-broken-after-yesterdays-backup
I.e. KDE is not able to open your KWallet any more (where your wireless password is stored). This will be fixed in the next KDE update, you can install the kdebase4-runtime package mentioned in https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/505025-kdewallet-broken-after-yesterdays-backup?p=2695350#post2695350 for now (after you installed all updates), or don’t install the KDE update.
You can switch back to the standard package again after you opened your wallet once, as it will have been migrated then.
A different workaround would be to set up the wireless connection as “system connection” (“Allow other users to use this connection” in the connection settings) before you do the updates. Then the passphrase is stored system-wide, not in KWallet.
Someone please shoot me in the face… The reason it wasn’t working is that for some reason I’ve been entering root password instead of wifi password… Case closed nothing to do here
Oh.
Anyway, good to hear your problem is “solved”…
