Generally speaking yes , but if it is the way for you , I do not
know.
Download the new kernell and all the packages and the packages dependencies and it should work.
But how familiar are you with opensuse to do it this way.

It fraught with complications for a NEW user really.
This one of the benefits of keeping a /home partition. Do a fresh install just to /
Yes, you need to re-install all your software packages and configure hardware, but it’s done in no time. Probably quicker than the method to which you inquire.
okay…thank you both for the replies. I understand that it would not be possible to update from 11 to 11.1 from inside opensuse via the package installer. So i have to burn a new dvd or cd to update it
NO. It is Possible. We just advise against it.
Hey Im new to openSuse and KDE but I
m fairly familiar with Ubuntu… So there is no easy way how to update to version 11.1 (via a command or upgrading through the packet manager?). Any help appreciated!

You have to change all repo’s for 11.1
Then do
zypper ref
zypper dup
HOWEVER. Backup.
And it’s not as simple as I put it. Much depends on your complete installation.
My advice is fresh install keeping /home
Ok Thanks I will keep experimenting on 11 for now and when I get a bit used to it I will update…
Thanks
