i would have bet money that the machine wouldn’t boot after this, but it in fact did (whew).
since the kmp modules were not updated with this new kernel, i have merely suspicions…any one have the real reason for these warnings?
same type of warnings occured (thou i didn’t copy the output) when i installed the ATI prop driver rpm. everything seems to work as normal so far, but it was so very DIFFERENT than many previous updates that i’m a bit leery.
If you had the same errors as posted in the link, it must be rather silent around your pc now. Did you have some kind of custom sound card configuration?
this was one of those cases where you shoot yourself in the foot, this machine had made the 11.0/11.1/11.2 transitions and the /lib/modules directory was littered with remnants of old kernels… and i cleaned them up prior to installing the 2.6.31.12 kernel (overzealous). This led the kmp modules that were carried over from the 2.6.31.5 kernel unable to find files, hence the warnings.
Re-installed the kmp modules and then the new kernel and viola…
Knurpht: don’t have the machine in front of me, but if it’s relevant, the repos were 11.2/oss, 11.2/non-oss, packman 11.2, update 11.2, and mozilla:/legacy (using firefox 3.0 still).
