Unreadable screen fonts

I just installed os11 x86_64 from live cd. When I get to the desktop the screen fonts are so small and distorted I can’t do anything. I have an ATI Radeon 3870hd connected to my 50in Panasonic plasma via HDMI. The screen icons look fine but none of the text is readable.

ps The live cd looked horrible too. I got lucky clicking through the install because everything was unreadable during that process too. I just went with the defaults hoping the full install would be ok.

Try Ctrl-Alt-+ to get a lower screen resolution, then modify the dpi ‘Configure Desktop-Appearance-Fonts’ to use a higher dpi, like 120. You could also permanently modify the resolution with sax2 to a lower resolution, for example 1024x768 instead of 1280x1024.

If nothing acceptable appears, try going to the console to make your modifications from the command line.
