opensuse v12.1
linux 3.1.9-1.4-desktop x86_64
I checked for updates; there were a number of them. One, though, sounded disastrous: opensuse-2012-74. It is an update for sysconfig.
What is so unnerving about it is the number of other apps it feels necessary to UNinstall to install the update. There are dozens including Gnome, KDE, dhcp, SuseFirewall. It seems so draconian. The implication is that I would not be left with a functioning OS if all of those were removed.
Is this to be expected? Normal?

I’m using that, and I have not seen the problem you relate.
Have you used other types of update?
What is the exact list of repos you are using (zypper lr --details).
You could also post the output of “zypper patch” (and then say no). It does
the same thing as a YOU.
Post that using code tags, do not forget. Advanced editor, #.

Apparently not quite the same thing.

Your repo list is fine…

A segmentation fault in libproxy… :-/

Yes, but apparently the library is loaded anyway.
The thing is, I can not imagine what goes wrong with your attempted
upgrade, as I can’t see the information you describe. Perhaps a photo from
a YOU capture, in susepaste.
Your system is a freshly installed 12.1, or did you upgrade from something
else? If so, how?
