Unmounting Creative Zen X Fi

Hi there,

been puzzling over this for a while, searched forums and net but no issues/solutions found. I have the above device plugged in and working fine. However when un-mounting - either through dolphin or device notifier, I get the report that the item is unmounted but then when removing USB cable from the Zen, it closes down and then rebuilds the entire 16GB collection - this takes quiet a bit of time and I worry that I may end up frying the Zen.

Is there a fix for this in Suse or is it the zen…

it doesn’t happen on my work machine running windows though…

many thanks Ben

I’m not familiar with Zen devices. so someone else may be able to assist with a better answer, but next time you unmount the device via Dolphin or Device Notifier, open a terminal and type

mount

Is the mounted file-system still present? I’m assuming all is well from the OS perspective, but maybe something unique to the device session is occurring here…

Hi,

Did you try managing your Zen with Amarok ? Try it just to see if it unmount ok.

Hi thanks for info… been away for a few days. The device does unmount when directed too in Amarok, Dolphin or Device Notifier and mount command does show that the device is no longer connected. However when removing the USB cable, it still reboots/rebuilds the zen. Also before this the zen itself shows that it is still connected. I guess Suse unmounts it, from the system but for what ever reason this does not get transferred to the zen. I suppose it must be an issue with the device which is a shame nice. Its a great cheap 16gb multi media player.

Ok, but if you disconnect it from amarok, does it reboot too ?
