Unlocking keyring with MATE DE

Hi,
I have the well known message “Enter password to unlock your keyring” every time I access to an external HD.
I want the keyring unlocked when I log in.

My config: Release 15.0 64-bit
Kernel Linux 4.12.14-lp150.12.58-default x86_64
MATE 1.20

I tried to fix it but the last try I broke the boot and had to spend 3h to fix it.

sudo update-alternatives --config default-displaymanager
There are 3 choices for the alternative default-displaymanager (providing /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/default-displaymanager).

  Selection Path Priority Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/lightdm   15        auto mode
  1 /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/console 5 manual mode
  2 /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/lightdm 15 manual mode
  3 /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/xdm 10 manual mode

So, I don’t want to get it worst and I am lost. What should I do ?

Many thanks

I haven’t seen that situation for a long time.
If things haven’t changed,

One solution has been to remove all restrictive permissions on the file system used by your external storage.
So, for example assuming that the drive’s file system is formatted NTFS, add the Anonymous and Everyone with Full Control.

If this is your personal attached storage and not physically accessible by anyone else, that should be sufficient.
If the storage can be accessed by others… on a shared medium like your network, then isn’t something you’d want to do.

Thank you TSU
I changed the permissions but still the same.

I was searching around displaymanager so I have to explain how I access the HD.
HD is connected to my router Linksys WRT32X with USB3. I access it through SFTP, (sftp://root@192.168.1.1/mnt/sda1) from Caja/Mate.

With this information maybe there is another thing to do to fix it?
