Unity on OpenSuse too?

Phoronix recently posted an article on Unity running on Fedora. It was interesting as the packages were coming from OpenSuse repo.

Would it mean we could have it ported to OS as well?

It’s not actually coming from an openSUSE repo, it’s coming from the Open
Build Service, and is being built for Fedora and hosted in a Fedora
repository in the Open Build Service.

It probably could be. Anyone who wanted to could fork the project in OBS
and set up a build target for openSUSE. If the dependencies were met and
the .spec file were modified to accurately reflect the dependencies, it
probably would work.

seems that Nelson Marques is working on this again

from his website:

*Phase #1 – uTouch stack – The uTouch stack is now complete for openSUSE, building both on openSUSE 12.2 and openSUSE Factory. Not properly tested as I don’t have way of testing it.

With Phase #1 complete, I’m moving now for the Unity core libraries and support libraries; for the time being I’ll rely on a GTK+ hack so that this can be tested; email sent to Factory to request if we can run the last vendor patch on GTK+ so our users don’t need to replace core components of the system.*
