uninstalling openSUSE 11.0, multibooted with XP?

ok i have had openSUSE 11.0 on my laptop for some time, but decided to install it on my stationary instead since it seems to be causing trouble on my laptop, which also have windows xp installed.

i tried to remove the partition, but i think i uninstalled it the wrong way, because it seems that GRUB wasnt removed (which complains, if theres no linux distro installed).

so: how do i uninstall linux (and GRUB), without deleting/damaging my windows partition?

i really hope you can help me!

in advance: Thanks lol!

The reason is probably that your MBR is still pointing to GRUB. You need to use fixmbr to restore your MBR to its original state - i.e. pointing only to Windows.

i dont know verry much about, that…
could you explain to me how to do it please?

and also a step by step guide on how to uninstall linux, just to make sure that i dont mess anything up

You just boot up your Windows installation CD and run the fixmbr command from there. How exactly you get there, what buttons to press at startup etc. I don’t remember anymore, it’s been a while. Anyway, it should be no problem googling it out. After that, you’ll be left with a working XP installation and a dead SuSE partition. You can then reformat/reuse the latter at your pleasure from the Windows Disk Management utility, or else you can remove it altogether, expanding your WinXP partition to reuse the space (if you have Partition Magic or a similar partition shrinker/expander).

Here’s a bit more detail:

Insert the XP/2000 installation disk and proceed to the final screen where you have the option to Repair Your Computer. Press “R” for Repair and log onto the Windows installation. When the command prompt appears, enter the command fixmbr. Confirm “yes” and you will receive confirmation of the reinstallation of Windows bootstrap code into the MBR. Enter exit and the computer will reboot.

Reference

see my hard drive, is split up in half!
on half for the linux partition, and one half for the windows partition!
so, excactly how would i uninstall my linux partition, and get all the disk space to my windows partition?

arent there some kinda guide out there explaining it?

Here it is:
Step 1: restore the windows bootloader as per the above.
Step 2: boot into windows and use the windows partitioner to reclaim and re-format all the other space (previously Linux) on the drive.
