In your favourite file manager enable “View hidden files” have a look in
your home dir for .wine and burrow down to the directory of the game and
delete it, it should not make any problems at all.
If it foes cause probs with further installs of games with wine then just
delete that directory ( .wine ) and start again it will be recreated for you
if you try and use wine again.
No need to uninstall/re-install

Apologies if this is a hijack, but does wine have a “registry” and does just deleting the folder leave “stuff” clogging it up, like it does in MsWin?
Ok I search all the files and folder and removed wine (un install) and re search all folder and file and removed them. Now I still show the program uninstall and program icon in the menu. How do I remove them??
I can not find menu editor Gnome system 64 bit.
thanks again for your help
Did you look at the post wakou pointed to?
It’s as easy as opening a terminal and typing:
wine uninstaller
It gives you the same add/remove applications control center as in Windows.
Take Care,
Ian
Yes, but it’s a fake folder version of the registry.
Hi yes i did, and now can not get rid of the program icon in the meanu. How do I do that.
Thanks
You can delete the shortcuts in /home/user/.local/share/applications/wine/
Not for me Finders, there is no reference to wine in that directory…
Surely the OP can axe the menu items from:
MENU>SETTINGS>MENU EDITOR>right-click>delete ??
Ok I did uninstall wine
su wine uninstaller
Next I looked for
/home/user/.local/share/applications/wine nothing was there than I read you can go to
MENU>SETTINGS>MENU EDITOR>right-click>delete
and I can find the menu editor it that KDE only???
Thanks Chris
Strange, I have wine shortcuts in both /home/user/.local/share/applications and /home/user/.local/share/desktop-directories
Deleting these removes the menu shortcuts.
Did you replace “user” with your user name in the link?
Forgot to mention I’m using KDE4.3, not sure how you can do this in gnome.
Ok finally got it file where hidden and was under chris/local/applications and desktop dict. and in icons and shared. Thanks for everyones time and help.
