Unexpected SMB signature closes server connection, only with kernel 2.6.39-30-desktop!

I used to sync my local directories via smb4k plus synkron to the server. It works like a charm including kernel 2.6.38.

BUT with 2.6.39 it doesn’t. /var/log/messages says:

Any idea, where the bug is? I do not even know, how to file a serious bug report on this, but somewhere there is a bug, because everything works fine with 2.6.38, I tested it a couple of times!

Alexander

which version of openSUSE has either of those kernels in its own repos?

i think the answer is none (since i’m running 11.4 and have 2.6.37),
which makes .39 software not yet ‘released’ in an openSUSE and it makes
you a software tester (thank you–more testers are needed)…

therefor, you should be asking this not in the networking forum but
rather in the special forum setup for bug finders like yourself:

http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/

or maybe on the Factory Mail List, or IRC (begin here, to find/join
those: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Communication_channels

but, to directly answer your unasked question of how/where to file “a
serious bug report on this”, begin here: http://tinyurl.com/nzhq7j
[though i think your initial idea to talk about it first is a good
one…do that in any of the above mentioned avenues…]

I stumbled upon a kernel bug, see

[2.6.39] CIFS write failures where 2.6.38 works | Linux | Kernel](http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/linux/kernel/1388032)

Should be solved for 2.6.39.3
