unable to start suse udevd[107]

Hi folks,

i’ve just done a kernel update via yast from 2.6.25.20-01 to 2.6.27.7-9 having no errors or warnings.

After a reboot and grub’s screen, where the new kernel is on top of the list, suse stops saying, that it can not find /lib/udev/rules.d (This folder exists.). Then it tries to find the hd and finally ends with a little prompt/konsole?

Starting Xen 2.6.25.20-01 works fine.

I hope you can help me and have an idea!

It appears that it couldn’t find your disk, thus no /lib anything.

You might be able to repair this by booting into rescue mode and
adjusting things from there.

With that said, I have NOT seen this problem.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I’ll try to solve it in rescue mode.

Thought I firstly should learn about the cause.

Couldn’t find a solution. Another kernel I installed didn’t work as good as before. Finally I installed suse new. Now everything’s fine.

Lesson learnt.
Never install a new kernel when you don’t have to… Or at least keep the old one. :stuck_out_tongue:
