Unable to refresh Packman or Video Lan repo

With zypper refresh I get this
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.4-Debug’ is up to date.
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.4-Non-Oss’ is up to date.
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.4-Oss’ is up to date.
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.4-Update’ is up to date.

I was able to add other repos and install applications and upgrades (new install Gnome 11.4 64 bit on friends laptop), and Packman and Video lan are the only repos I can’t refresh, any ideas?

Internet problems between you and the servers maybe. Try again later.

Still no go. I recently moved into a new building and since then, I’ve had internet issues. Not sure why all the community repos are refreshable, but 3rd party repos are not refreshable?

The repo for libdvdcss doesn’t need updating. Turn it off.

I assume you can go to: Index of /suse/openSUSE_11.4/
In a browser no problem?

Try switching that packman off and using another mirror from this list:

Version note|11.4| Packman complete software
Index of /suse/openSUSE_11.4 Germany]
Index of /packman.links2linux.de/suse/openSUSE_11.4 Germany]
Index of /pub/mirrors/packman/suse/openSUSE_11.4/ Germany]
Index of /packman/suse/openSUSE_11.4 Germany]
Index of /pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_11.4 Germany]
Index of /suse/openSUSE_11.4 USA]

Try clearing out zypper cache with

sudo rm -rf /var/cache/zypp

then refresh your repos again

sudo zypper up

Changing one of the mirrors worked. I also cleared zypper cache. I am able to refresh packman repo–thank you-

 .

Hi. It is funny I’m responding to my original problem. I have an old new laptop which I installed Opensuse 12.2 KDE on it, 32 bit version. I had the same issue with not being able to

zypper ref

packman or libdvd. When I went to another wireless network it was fine. I was able to update etc. I am just curious, since the issue is fixed in general what would prevent such things on that one network?

Are you saying the other openSUSE repos are fine?
Just a problem with Packman and libdvdcss?

Yes the other repos are fine on network A. On network A, I am unable to refresh packman and libdvdcss. When I log into network B, all repos are fine, and I am able to refresh them, including packman & libdvdcss. Something in network A not allowing the refresh?

can you speak with the admin for netA? maybe s/he blocks a range of IPs
which includes the repo you are trying to refresh…

short: if you don’t own the net access point (and pay for the
bandwidth used ) you have to accept the fact that whoever does’(own/pay)
has the right to restrict access to certain IPs, and the establish the
speed, and quantity and and and and…

Hi
Are the DNS servers the same on Network A and Network B?

I do not have access to either of the administrators. I would be guessing if I knew if they were on separate servers. The two networks are at different locations, i.e. one is in the building that I stay in, and the other is where I work.

Hi
If your getting your address via DHCP, then check in /etc/resolv.conf

You can manually set the DNS servers as well…

Do you have to use a proxy at either site?

Short time ago, finished zypper removal then re-install of VLC Videolan on openSUSE 12.1 without problems.

Just then zypper install of repositories then VLC: VideoLAN Client - Gnome Access Modules on openSUSE 12.2 without problems.

Set repositories first with priority to 100 so as to avoid clashes with openSUSE.
