Unable to power on Fedora 39 Guest VM using Virtual Machine Manager and Xen Hypervisor with Leap 15.5 Host

Hi there!

I’m trying to run virtual machines on Xen Hypervisor with openSUSE Leap 15.5 as the controller domain / Dom0. Specifically at the moment, a Fedora 39 Guest VM, using Virtual Machine Manager. And I’m running into multiple different errors.

openSUSE boots fine, from grub2, with Xen as an alternate kernel instead of the stock Linux kernel. Which is great. But I haven’t had much luck in starting any other VMs (DomU/Guest VMs). I keep getting errors in the system logs about “such and such a function name that starts with vir… is not supported by the connection driver.”

At one point, I was able to get past enough of the errors to install and boot a Fedora 39 guest VM. But when I tried to enable networking functionality on it, I got errors as previously mentioned, with function name virNetworkDefineXML, among others.

Now I can’t even get that far. Virtual Machine Manager will start up, and will appear to connect to the Xen driver successfully. But when I try to boot my Fedora VM, I again get errors like the one above, only with different function names, like virConnectGetAllDomainStats.

I would really like to get Xen virtual machines working properly – at least enough to boot into a graphical desktop and connect to the Internet. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
