The above seems to suggest you have a dual monitor setup but only one monitor can be found, are you still using both monitors and are they both switched on, correctly plugged in etc?
With regards to re-installing nvidia drivers after a kernel upgrade I think that only applies when the driver has been installed using the ‘hard way’ method doesn’t it? I’ve been on ati cards for a while now but I seem to remember that if the nvidia drivers were installed via yast then during a kernel upgrade the nvidia stuff got automatically ‘re-compiled’
Not sure if that’s the right terminology there but the point being I seem to remember it being ‘automatic’
There are two monitors connected earlier and it was working fine.
The only problem was, 3D was not working (some 3D stuff with 3D glasses) so i tried to use the xorg.conf file from a workstation where 3D was working (both are same OPenSUSE 10.3 and same lenovo workstations).
That is when the problem started. I tried to use the original xorg.conf file but no use.
I did not upgrade or changed anything except xorg.conf and typed “init 3” and then “init 5” to restart X.
1- You’re running “startx” with root permissions. Don’t. Never ever start a desktop environment as root. Info on this is all over the forums
2- You have an xorg.conf. Should not be necessary, might cause trouble. Rename it, then reboot
3- X complains about Twinview being enabled, whilst only one display device is connected.
4- The xorg.conf is messy, f.e. there’s 2 Device sections, where there should only be one.
I suggest you rename/remove the xorg.conf and see what the system does using autoconfiguration.
