Unable to load GUI after upgrade from 42.1 to 42.2

I’ve upgraded today from leap 42.1 to 42.2 and now I’m unable to load GUI. In the journal log I can see that plymouth and sddm crash and create a core-dump so this seem to be somehow related to my Problem. The default target is set to graphical.target but after booting I can the usual CLI login prompt (not emergency target, just the usual console). The display manager seem to have failed:

Any idea what could going on?

Several guesses

How did you upgrade if vie zypper dup are you absolutly sure all repos are 42.2???

What video card??? /driver if AMD then the drivers have changed and the proprietary driver should be removed before upgrade. Does nomodeset at boot help??

Yeah, upgrade was done via zypper dup. And yes, I think they are 42.2, judging by the URLs.

Video Card is nvidia and I haven’t removed them before. Is it worth trying again with removed video card drivers?

No improvement, only the resolution is worse, but still only CLI

Ok, found the bad boy, the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file was causing the issue for some reason. Removed the old file and created a copy of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install with name of xorg.conf in same folder and I was able to boot into GUI.
