Unable to install TeamViewer

I downloaded the 64 bit SUSE RPM of TeamViewer from this site - TeamViewer Download, and double-clicked it. I had no other app active, except my web browser and the system is pretty responsive. But it took about 15 minutes for an installation dialog of TeamViewer to appear. After I clicked “install”, it vanished and did not appear again. I have gone through this thrice but to no avail. Any fixes? Thanks.

i really don’t know much about that application, but as far as i can see
it is sold by the TeamViewer folks–so, they MUST have some online
support for the products they sell…

suggest you ask them how old is the rpm you are trying to
install…and, is/was it made for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop/Server
(which versions), or for openSUSE (which versions, kernels), or
both…(or, maybe that info is available on their web site, or in a
readme with the rpm–have you looked??)

and, ask them if it has been tested against whichever operating system
and version it is that you are using…you didn’t tell us, but be sure
and tell them, as you ask.

Hello. Thank you for your response.

They do not appear to have a forum, so I posted here. Also I am using the free version.

After a bit of googling, I found this post - Installing TeamViewer 7 on openSUSE 12.1 | silviumc. The instructions therein helped and I was able to install and run teamviewer.

Sorry about that. I am using openSUSE 12.2 x86_64 KDE edition. Perhaps I should add that to my signature.

Cheers.

happy you found them…

AND very happy you posted the fix link (so all those who google into
this thread can also find a smile–GOOD on YOU! thanks for contributing
to openSUSE)

A shame you hadn’t found a recent thread on this topic already - posted here a couple of days ago

Yeah, a shame really. In future I will try to do more research (read: googling) before posting my problems.

I’ve been trying FreeNX/noMachine and krdc/krfb and other techniques which were bizarrely complicated and never was successful.

I’ve just completed 4 installs of TeamViewer on openSuSE 12.2 64bit or 12.1 64bit and 12.1 32bit boxes and the only trouble I ran into was needing some parts of Wine.
I just installed Wine first, then ran the .rpm file downloaded from teamviewer for each box and man it was so simple I’m just giddy.

It seems to work great for what I need to do with it. (support family/friends opensource PCs) transfers files, I can control their desktop, etc. it’s great…
