Unable to install Opensuse 64bit with windows 8 pro

Hi everyone.
I tried to install Opensuse 12.2 64bit to have dual boot with windows 8 pro.
In the window that you choose on which partition to install Opensuse, in Opensuse installation, the installation wants to delete my windows 8 partition and format it. when I do it manually I get an error message which says that I have to delete windows 8 partition in order to install Opensuse.
I set 100GB partition for Opensuse.

When I tried Opensuse 32bit installation I don’t have this problem and I can install it along windows 8.

What am I doing wrong?
And how can I have both windows 8 pro (64bit) and Opensuse 12.2 64bit on the same computer with dual boot?

Thanks,
Tsur.

Please post screenshot of your partition window(s) (SUSE Paste). Without knowing what you are doing no one can say what you are doing wrong.

Thanks for your replay.

When I tried to install the 64bit version:

then I tried to do it manually:

Opensuse does finds the 100GB. I check the 100GB and click accept but then:

When I try to check it all I get this message:
View image: IMG 20130221 110954s

when I try the 32bit installation everything set up automatic and the way I want:

How can I install the 64bit version on the 100GB partition I set for the linux?
I do want the 64bit version. I already have a computer with the 32bit.

Looks like your Windows is installed in legacy BIOS mode, but you try to install openSUSE in UEFI mode. Try booting openSUSE installation DVD using legacy BIOS. You should see shiny bootsplash instead of white-on-black “Booting ELILO”.

32 bit version probably does not include UEFI support at all which is the reason why it works.

It’s work!

Thank you very much.

Is windows 8 still bootable?

?-)

Hi triger772,

when dual-booting openSUSE 12.2 with windows 8, you should urgently disable ‘Fast Startup’ in your windows 8, see
Linux and Windows 8: Fast Startup puts data at risk - The H Open: News and Features](http://www.h-online.com/open/features/Linux-and-Windows-8-Fast-Startup-puts-data-at-risk-1780640.html)

Good luck
Mike

Yes, its work just fine.
I didn’t see any problems until now.
