I’m just installing SuSE 11.1 on VMWARE which works fine for now.
But actually I want to install SuSE 11.1 on my 11.0 system on a second partion from scratch from a LAN server, which exports the SuSE 11.1 ISO image. Unfortunately this doesn’t work. During installation I get following message: ‘The storage subsystem is locked by an application’
Does anybody already got SuSE 11.1 installed via nfs or does anybody have an idea what stops me to install a plain SuSE 11.1 on my box via nfs?
Confirmed: The same occurs with smb instead of nfs. In my case, yast asked me if it should load some “usb-storage” driver before, but independent if i do or not, i get those strange message.
Btw: my installation-trial is without any VM.
I found a solution:
You have to use the boot-files from openSuSE 11.1, nothing earlier.
This will be my first 11.1, so i had no installed system before. The system i was using as tftp was 11.0 and the files for the PXE-boot where “borrowed” there as well. Obviously, there was some change.
Note: It would have made it much easier to have a download of the files for the tftp-server than to have (some of them) included in a package (syslinux) of the software i wanted to install.
