hai all.i have just installed 11.1 on my pc.
i was trying to install ffmpeg and vlc packages for 2 days now with out any success.the yast package installer just stucks at the beginning with out installing a single package and remains there.i had to kill the process every time i tried to install.i used the single click installation file from the community and searched and selected the packages manually,both the times the installer just hangs with out installing a single file.
i had 11.0 and was working without a glitch.11.1 ( >:( ) is giving me all sorts of problem in every aspect.
any ideas as to how to go through?
Until someone gives a better response if you have a need to play movie files atm you can install smplayer from the packman repository for now.
You could also try in a console as root
zypper install ffmpeg
If you take the same path as me: downgrading to 11.0…

some how managed to install ffmpeg…finally to play some audio.
i guess the repositories are very slow.yast gave up several times.every time i had to check and punch the retry button.(did that for about 10 times to download 5mb )
11.0 was working like a charm for me…i was in a hurry to check out 11.1 and that is proving to be a hell-ride for me…
yeap EarthMind…you are right…downgrading to 11.0 might save me lot of trouble…just not finding time to do it.
