Unable to install Blender

Hi,

I just move to OpenSuse from Mandi 2010 - it’s almost second day. I have been trying to install Bleem 3D but getting following error:

NOTE:
The errors above is just a sample, actual error log is about 17,000 lines :frowning:

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Edit:
I re-tried and this time I ignored the errors and proceed to install. Blender is opening (haven’t made any project so can’t say if it will work fine) – now do I need to resolve these errors or leave them ignored?

how are you trying to install it? (i don’t know how Mandi 2010
installs anything, but have you learned how to in openSUSE? here is a
good place to start: http://en.opensuse.org/Concepts)

however, if this is a game system i think you should have posted to
the game forum http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/games/

and, imo if it is cracked software, or to run cracked software you
should receive zero help here…

Thanks for responding but, let me say a loud “BUT”…

  1. I am using Software Installer through YAST  using repos.

  2. It is not a GAMING system - it is an open source free 3D software just like 3Ds Max or Maya.

  3. It’s not crack software :frowning:

well, maybe i misunderstood (that is very possible) but, you wrote “I
have been trying to install Bleem 3D” and, i’ve looked in all the
openSUSE repos (i think) and do not find a “Bleem 3D” or a “Bleem” or
“bleem”…so, in which repo are you finding it?

btw, google finds <http://tinyurl.com/38elcnb> nine hits on “Bleem 3D”
and the Wiki article <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleem> seems to
be a ten year old PlayStation emulator which was sued out of existence
by Sony…

so, exactly what are trying to install? and, on to which version of
openSUSE? and, while you are at it please do the following at a
command line and copy paste the results back to here:

zypper lr -d

oh, and maybe you just need to run

rpm --rebuilddb

and, if that works then you need to ask yourself how the rpm database
got clobbered… (have you aborted some install attempts by (say) just
closing the window?)

Thanks for response.

Sorry, I just realized I mixed up things, it is actually Blender (I always mix it with Bleem) – sorry about this.

Now one more thing, I am in process of installing Thunderbird – and I am receiving similar errors. This is really strange for me, my installation is almost fresh and I am wondering what’s the issue.

I am using following repos:

Google apps: URL: http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/stable/i386
Libdvdcss repository: URL: http://opensuse-guide.org/repo/11.2/
Mozilla Apps: URL: Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.2

the issue is you have not read enough about how to install in openSUSE
(we will get to that in a moment)

first: next time a helper here ask for copy/paste, please do
so…because i can’t see what you have enabled and what is not…you
need to disable (maybe they already are, i can’t tell):

Google apps
Libdvdcss repository
Mozilla Apps
Wine
nVidia Drivers
openSUSE-11.2-Debug

leave enabled only:
Packman
oss (open source software)
non-oss (non-open source software)
update

for background on all of that: read the paragraph beginning with
“IMPORTANT: Note repositories are in essence file servers…” in
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/information-new-users/new-user-how-faq-read-only/424611-new-users-opensuse-pre-install-general-please-read.html#post2058902

those are the four repos i said leave enabled (above)…

and, i caution you that if you use the one-click installs then you
must always go in afterwards and disable all new repos the one-click
added…

and, read here to get you started in using openSUSE the correct way:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/information-new-users/

note: the following procedure will CHANGE lots of stuff (maybe) which
you have picked up from repos which provide newer stuff A., which
may conflict with newer stuff B. and poison your system (like cause
trouble when trying to install Thunderbird…)

open a terminal and do

su - <and give root password
zypper ref	<and give it time to finish
zypper dup	<and give it time to finish
exit <prompt will change from red to other
exit <terminal window will close

THAT should set your system back to normal and smooth…now, you
should be able to install Thunderbird from the normal repo, simply by
opening YaST, go Software Management, search for ‘thunderbird’ (type
thunderbird in the search blank and click search:-) when it shows in
the list on the right, right click and mark it for install,

THEN, search on ‘blender’, right click to mark it for install…

anything else you wanna install, do the same and THEN click on
“Accept” down at the bottom…

ignor the Abort button…do NOT push it…never ever begin adding
software when you do not have (say) half an hour to let it
complete…you will draw software from world wide (mostly donated
space and bandwidth) mirrors which sometime get slow…PATIENCE is
golden…a really good way to mess up YaST is killing it in the midst
of something…

welcome…patience+reading and you will soon love it…
