Unable to install any application with "Software"

Hello guys.
I have OpenSuse 13.2 32 bit installed. I tried to install applications with “Software” utility, but every time get a message “Sorry. This did not work”.

What can cause the issue and how to deal with it?
Thanks.

Which software are you trying to install?
Try using YAST, search for the software you want to install, check the box and accept.

Which software utility? You mean Yast => Software Management?

No, he means “gnome-software”.

To the problem:
AFAIK gnome-software needs packagekitd running. But on openSUSE packagekitd by default shuts itself down after 15 seconds of idleness, to not block YaST/zypper.
You would need to disable that by setting “ShutdownTimeout=0” in /etc/PackageKit/PackageKit.conf.
Or install “PackageKit-branding-upstream” instead of “PackageKit-branding-openSUSE”.

But you won’t be able to use YaST or zypper any more, or at least they will ask whether to shutdown packagekitd on startup.

AIUI, gnome-software is only included as a technical preview at this point. It’s not intended to be used really.
