unable to get synaptic

I’ve install APT. But when I type the command to get synaptic, it says " E: Couldn’t find package synaptic ".I guess that’s because I have put the wrong repositary. Is there a way to change them so I can get my applications online instead of going on the E: drive?

zypper is the supported command line package management interface.
See http://en.opensuse.org/Zypper
As for your apt installation, I would expect such a package to include apt and
maybe aptitude, but synaptic seems unlikely to be in there. If you want it,
install it.

WTF are you doing? We don’t have an E: drive whatsoever! What’s your issue?
Did you install from CD/DVD and every time you installed something YaST2 asks
you to insert the medium? Did you just forget to unregister the CD/DVD as
repository and use only the online repositories instread? In consequence, did
you think that apt would be able to do it from online sources? Please use the
supported zypper / YaST2 with online repositories.

  • bitbernie,

try an “apt-get update” first.

Why do you use apt and not Yast/zypper?
