Unable to get into GUI mode Normally

Hi,
I am new to linux Trying Linux to clean My Win XP OS.
My problem is until i accept updates the system works fine, but after some updates the system won’t boot to GUI Desktop I am left at command prompt.
At Boot Menu initially I only had 3 options

  1. opensuse (default)
  2. failsafe openSuse (default )
  3. Windows
    now i’ve 2 more added to it
  4. OpenSuse (pae) :frowning:
  5. failsafe (pae) :frowning:
    Now Iam using ‘failsafe openSuse (default )’ else I wont get GUI Mode.
    I am I in Deep Trouble so as to reinstall or is it solvable.

post your /boot/grub/menu.lst
default kernel still works.
so we can disable the (pae)
or find what is going on

But unfortunately I could not log back into the system with what ever the error. So I had to reinstall the OS.
As of now I dont have any probs.
