Unable to find driver for ATI Moblity Radeon HD 4570

Am using a Dell Studio 15(Model 1555).
Running Suse 11.1.
Have searched fro drivers on the official site as well as tried to search for the driver at HCL/ATI Video Cards - openSUSE
Couldn’t get anything. Please help.

You missed the See also part, it leads to
ATI 3D on openSUSE

Actually I didn’t miss that. Did everything according to what is said there. Now my system doesn’t even show the login screen. Looks like I am in a bigger fix than i started off with.

Hello,

Did you resolve your probles with the HD 4570 driver? I am asking, because Last night it seemed that I had the same issue, after installing the recomended ATI driver, but the X did load. :frowning: No login screen, no command line prompt…

Thanks.

regards

No, unable to do anything about it. Could some one here suggest something, please?

Users of Ubuntu in this thread ([ubuntu_studio] Dell Studio 15 + Mobility Radeon HD 4570 - Ubuntu Forums](http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1114683)) appear to have made this laptop play nice with Linux. I’m following both threads closely because I want to get this laptop with the same graphics configuration.

Try to start suse in safe mode, then "in my case allso x wont start, go to console login as root, then type “/usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh”, then type reboot and you should have system up and running again without ati drivers

allso im my case i have built in ati radeon hd 2700 which is not listed in ati drivers, i have to use drivers for radeon hd2600,(2700 is built on basis of 2600)

aha, in safe mode, you probaly have blak screen, use combination CTRL + ALT + F2 to reach console

good luck

Hey guys. I’ve got something. Disabling framebuffer it is possible to have the X server back. I could configure the monitor and enable Xinerama, although I didn’t test anything but opening a gnome session.

A little more is said the opensuse wiki.

Sorry for the long silence, had lot of things to do…

I installed ubuntu yesterday, today I installed the ATI drivers as recommended by Ubuntu, and works just fine…

I haven’t been able to figure out, why it will not work on OpenSuSE 11.1 as it supposed to.
