I have installed and used kdenlive just fine for editing video I already have on my hard drive or DVD and create the edited video and iso files. However I am unable to get it to capture from my firewire camcorder. I can run dvgrab from a conolse window in interecative mode and it finds and connects to the cmacorder with no problems. However kdenlive refuses to work with firewire and no capture window is available in this version (15.12.1), it also refuses to remember when I change the capture default to firewire.
Does anyone here have it working with firewire capture?

Further update to this I have now tested both Kino and LiVES for firewire capture and they work fine, so this is a kdenlive issue so have opened a thread with them on this issue.

Interesting to see some1 still uses firewire. I guess it makes sense but it’s quite some time since I last saw a laptop or PC with firewire port
Whilst I agree not many laptops (if any) have firewire quite a few desktop m/b have it and even if mine did not I have an add-on card for it. I still have my old camcorder which needs f/w because I have some 40 or so DV cassettes which have movies between 2000 and 2010 on which I want to be able to edit rather than just play by plugging into my TV.
Anyway this is a kdenlive issue not an opensuse one as dvgrab, kino and LiVES all work perfectly.
